Those post’s you never want to write…
I know I’ve been off the site recently. It’s been a difficult time as of late…For those of you who have known me for a while, may have met Georgette “J.J.” Ryan. She and I were married for 9.5 years, and were recently divorced, sharing custody of our son RJ. Sadly, Georgette passed away August 29th, 2007. It was sudden, a pulmonary thrombosis in both lungs (bloodclot). During the last two years, she and I did not see eye to eye on much, but I do know one thing. She loved her son with a passion, and had a special relationship with him, full of music and laughter. She was involved in the storytelling community via me, and knew many of my storyteller and celtic friends. She was also a writer for the Irish News and Entertainment, here in Los Angeles, and had been active as a music critic, a singer, and a performer for some time. She truly had a phenomenal voice and repetoire. She also had a lot of charisma and wit, and left a huge circle of friends. She was originally from Minnesota, and her ashes have been scattered up near Lake Harriet as she wished. She will be missed.
And so now, I’m a full time single parent, with a 10 year old son, and life is very busy. Getting out to do those gigs will be a bit more challenging. My son is grieving in his own way, and I’m doing my best to be there for him. I knew her for 11 years, and she was a major part of my life, and so there’s a fair amount of grief on my side as well. I’ll leave this post up for a little while, but she will never be far from our memories.
Blessings, True
