I have some of the coolest friends….

So the other day, we got an invite. In the shape of a battered, burned, treasure map, beautifully drawn, complete with blood stains. For a Pirate party. Now other folks might have a pirate party, and have some tiki torches, skull and cross bones etc. But I do ren-faire, etc. My friends Rick and Annie Lainhart, (the incredible) have a rep for doing amazing things…this time, we go into the back yard, and it looked like a scene from Port Royal, barrells, chests, and an amazing spread of food- not the cheap stuff mind you- great roast beast, and all, complete with full bar, and newcastle ale. But aside from the fact that everyone was running around in a variety of fantastic costumes (from absolutely authentic, to Peter Pan Smee) frock coats with ruffles and more, the trophy was a 32nd Scale Spanish Galleon, complete with Main mast, deck, and big enough to hold 20 people singing at the top of their lungs (which we did). Again, I maintain..I’ve got the coolest friends, I’ve got the coolest friends. Rick and Annie, (and company…) You guys are the stepping stones of life!
The next day I perform for the Balboa Magnet School, fall picnic. I announce. I get the kids singing and seated on the grass. And the sprinklers go off. Somewhere the big storyteller in the sky is having a great laugh…I do a flying dive to save my sound system from the sprinklers. So quick march to another area. I am then bombarded by LAX flyover, so loud that you can’t hear me with sound system. Still, all in all, a good time was had by many!
