Celtic Storytelling Bio
"True Thomas the Storyteller has been storytelling for many years. He is well known in the southern California Celtic Community as a person who brings traditional stories to life with passion and wit. He is following the Celtic Seanachai tradition, a wonderful oral tradition that is slowly fading away in it's native tongue and countries.
He is the Ard Ollav (High Bard or Chief Poet) of the Queen Medb Encampment, a 501 c3 Non Profit Educational group. As such he toured with them for 9 years as their "Storyteller and Bard in residence". This organization is a re-enactment group, which stressed authentic costumes and personae. His personae was that of "True Thomas the Rhymer, a 13th Century Scottish Poet and Prophet. (Famous as the lover of the Fairy Queen and for his inability to lie, hence "True" Thomas) As True, he sang, told stories, and worked as Queen Medbs spokesman and Emissary.
True's duties included educating the members on Celtic history and legends, and entertaining the public. He has been the featured storyteller at many Celtic festivals and faires, and has performed at storytelling events local and international. He has also led storytelling tours in Ireland.
He currently performs around Southern California, and teaches classes on Celtic folklore, mythology, and Early Celtic history. On this St. Patrick's Day evening he will be featured as co-star at the "Emerald Evening Concert" at the McGroarty Art Center in Tujunga.
